For me one of the most important planning documents I create is my master tech form. Once all the music, costumes, and props have been selected and ordered, I send out tech forms to all choreographers and teachers to fill out and return to me. On this form they indicate entrances, exits, lighting requests, etc....everything I need to know about their dance and getting everyone and everything on and off stage. Once I have everyone's forms back, I can piece together the show and plan out everything with my master tech form. This form ends up being my "Bible" for the show.
One of my favorite features of Prosody Backstage is the tech forms included for each dance. It was important for me to have an easy way to collect and manage all the information I need to run and call a show. Once a dance is created in app, the teacher or choreograph can complete the tech form portion. I love having quick access to the information. I also can make edits easily that automatically update. Now here is the best part. When you create a show order in Prosody Backstage the master tech form is automatically created for you! Now all you have to do is add little details specific to each show. This is a huge time saver for me especially if I am creating multiple shows. Oh and it gets better. You can create and download a PDF of the master tech form as well!
I love creating and choreographing dances, but I also get so much joy from managing and pulling off a seamless show. I recently watched the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie. It was basically amazing. Not only is Taylor extremely talented, but the whole production was impressively well created, managed, and run. It was seamless and amazing. I couldn't help but think about the stage crew and whoever was calling the show. That person is my hero.
You and I aren't managing and calling the Eras Tour, but we still get to create recitals for our students to feel like they are Taylor Swift.
