One thing is for sure, you will not have a successful recital if you fail at communicating with staff and parents . Good communication is key to running a smooth show. Everyone needs to be on the same page and understand your plans and vision. Here are my top tips for great communication for recitals and performances:
Have a plan and a vision. You can't except everyone to know what to do if you don't.
Communicate your information early. No one likes last minute plans and expectations. Give everyone ample time to ask questions and execute.
Give specific instructions. General directions such as "you guys are going to run stage right" isn't effect. Give specific steps and directions so everyone knows what to do.
Rehearse. You wouldn't put a dance onstage without rehearsing. Go through plans and expectations with staff and parents ahead of time.
Discover effective ways to relay information. Prosody Backstage is a perfect tool to improve communication between you and your staff and parents. Prosody Backstage Portal allows parents to see their child's costume information, event information, reminders, and more. Prosody Backstage's in app chat feature is a great way to communicate and make sure everyone is on the same page.
