Almost 13 years ago I started working for a studio. I had moved, just had my first daughter, and was looking for a new studio to work at. After asking around, I heard of a studio looking for a lyrical teacher, and it just happened to be ten minutes from my new house. It was fate! I started working middle of the season and had only been on staff a few months before the annual recital. The class I took over wasn't in the show, however I thought it would be a good idea to go and see what this new studio was about.
Y'all it was horrible. The backstage was utter chaos. Half of the teachers were dancing in the recital and no one was watching the kids or running things backstage. They had huge long breaks in between dances. Compared to my previous experiences, this show was a complete mess. It was so bad I started having a panic attack, thought I was dying, and had to leave. I didn't last very long. (Thankfully the studio was bought by a new owner shortly after, and now their recitals are amazing.)
Recitals are so important to a dance studio. There are good ones and there are bad ones. There is so much to manage it can be really hard to have a successful recital. Prosody Backstage was created to make recital planning and managing easier, however, I felt like I could do more. Abby and I decided that not only do we want to be able to provide amazing tools for planning recitals, we also wanted to give you our experience and expertise. I have over 15 years of experience. Abby has even more than me. Together we know what makes a great recital and how to make sure you have a show that runs smoothly. We want your recitals to demonstate all the good you are doing at your studio and in the classroom.
Prosody officially announces our Recital Builder Workshop! This five day workshop will help you plan your recital with the benefit of step by step guidance and expertise. You don't have to be Prosody Backstage clients to take the class (but we really think it is best if you are). We really just want to help you have the best recital possible without the panic.
I can't wait to help you build your next amazing recital!
