Tis the Season! It is officially Nutcracker season and time for all of the holiday shows. One of my favorite things to do is to use December and Holiday shows to give back to the community and provide service opportunites for my students. Providing opportunities to serve and give back to the community is great way for students to think about others. Here is a list of a few ways you and your studio can serve your community:
Set up a Food Drive. Encourage attendees and audience members to donate food items that can be donated to your local food bank.
Contact your local retirement community and volunteer to perform for residents.
March in holiday parades and and support community events.
Set up a scholarship fund to cover dance expenses for those that experience hardship. Ask for donatations at your studio to support the scholarship fund.
Be a Christmas Angel for a child or children in your community. Have your team or studio donate to provide Christmas for families in need.
Contact your local elementry schools, pre-schools, and day cares and volunteer to perform a holiday show.
Organize a gift exchange for your team members.
Contact your local children's hospital or cancer center and organzie a small performance or visit.
There is so much you can do for your community! Happy Holidays!
