This summer has been another beautiful reminder of why I fell in love with dance in the first place.

As a vendor and as the co-founder of Prosody Performance Arts Management and co-creator of Prosody Backstage, I have had the privilege of attending dance teacher conventions and events throughout the summer. While I went into each event excited to share what we are building and connect with dance educators, I left each one feeling something much deeper: gratitude, inspiration, and an even greater appreciation for the incredible community that surrounds this industry.

There is something truly special about being in a room filled with people who love dance.

As a vendor, I have had the opportunity to meet so many incredible teachers, studio owners, educators, artists, and dance professionals. Some conversations were quick moments at our booth, while others turned into meaningful conversations about the industry, our students, our businesses, our challenges, and our hopes for the future. Every interaction reminded me that behind every studio, program, and organization are people who care deeply about creating meaningful experiences for dancers.

I am so thankful for every person who took the time to stop by, introduce themselves, ask questions, share an idea, or simply say hello.

I am equally grateful for the relationships I've built with my fellow vendors. There is something wonderfully unexpected about realizing that the people around you aren't simply colleagues or other businesses; they are part of your community. We may each have something different to offer, but we are all contributing to the same larger world of dance.

And the presenters.

Watching educators and industry professionals share their knowledge, experiences, and passion is one of my favorite parts of these events. Their willingness to give, teach, inspire, and encourage others is a beautiful reflection of what makes the dance community so special.

Then there are the event organizers. They are the people behind the scenes who make these gatherings possible. I have an appreciation for the amount of work, care, and dedication that goes into creating these experiences. Thank you for creating spaces where our industry can come together, learn from one another, celebrate one another, and simply enjoy being part of something bigger than ourselves.

There is an energy at dance conventions that is difficult to put into words.

There is excitement. There is laughter. There are reunions, new friendships, big ideas, tired feet, and countless conversations happening all around you. There is the joy of seeing someone you haven't seen in years and the excitement of meeting someone for the very first time.

Most importantly, there is unity.

We may come from different studios, different cities, different backgrounds, and different areas of the industry, but our shared love of dance creates an immediate connection. For a few days, we are all part of the same celebration of an art form that has shaped so many of our lives.

I have loved dance since I was a child. Like many of us, I had an idea of what my future in dance might look like. My journey has taken me on a different path than I originally imagined, but somehow, I have found myself continuing to build a career within the industry that captured my heart all those years ago.

Today, I have the honor of being part of that industry in a different way. I am thankful for my roll as a vendor, a business owner, a co-founder, and someone who gets to help create tools and opportunities for the people who make dance education possible.

Building Prosody Performance Arts Management and creating Prosody Backstage has given me another way to contribute to a community that has given me so much. I am incredibly proud of what we are creating, but I am even more grateful for the people who have welcomed us into their conversations, shared their feedback, challenged us to think differently, and believed in what we are trying to accomplish.

Every convention this summer has reinforced something I already knew:

The dance community is something truly special.

It is passionate. It is creative. It is resilient. It is generous. And it is filled with people who genuinely want to see one another succeed.

I am leaving this summer with a heart full of gratitude for the attendees who stopped by our booth, the fellow vendors who welcomed us, the presenters who inspired us, and the organizers who created these incredible opportunities to come together.

Thank you for the conversations.

Thank you for the connections.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank you for the laughter.

And thank you for reminding me why this work matters.

I don't know exactly where my love of dance will take me next, but I know I am incredibly honored to continue the journey.

From the little girl who first fell in love with dance to the person standing behind a booth at a convention, representing something I believe in, it feels pretty special to still be here.

And I couldn't be more grateful to be here with all of you.

Here's to the dance community, to the connections we make, to the joy we share, and to the many ways we continue to keep this beautiful industry moving forward.
